Q&A

Q: When and where does Troop 1054 meet?
A: Troop 1054 meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month. We meet at the Marinette Middle School LMC at 6:30 pm.

Q: What about uniforms?
A: There are two different uniforms in Scouting. There is a "Class A" Uniform, which is the formal tan shirt. (See the uniform here) This shirt is required to have the Troop number (Troop 1054 provides this), council patch, and flag. The pants, cap, belt, socks, etc. are optional. The "Class B" uniform is the blue "Spirit of Scouting" shirt each new scout is presented with upon joining Troop 1054. These "Class B" uniforms are worn at informal events like meetings, around camp, etc. We would like the boys to wear their class "B" shirts for normal meetings; however, the tan "Class A" shirt is required for formal events like a Court of Honor or a Flag Ceremony.

Q: What is a Court of Honor?
A: A Court of Honor is a formal ceremony during which the Scouts are presented with merit badges, rank badges, awards, etc. The whole family is invited to a Court of Honor. A Court of Honor is usually a pot-luck dinner (in which every family brings a dish to pass, their own place settings, and chairs) followed by the ceremony and activities/free time. A Court of Honor is an excellent opportunity to get the whole family involved in Scouting.

Q: What should my Scout bring to an overnighter or weekend camp?

Q: What should I know about Summer Camp?
A: Since this question requires a long, in-depth answer, we have prepared a fact sheet.

Q: What about knives?
A: In order to carry and use knives in Scouting, a "Totin' Chip" needs to be earned. Scouts usually earn their Totin' Chip the first Spring or Fall camp they attend. Blades need to be 3" or less; bowie, butterfly, switchblades, machetes, etc., are strictly prohibited.

Q: What about making fires?
A: In order to make/use fires, Scouts are required to earn a "Firemen's Chit." The Firemen's Chit is usually earned the first Spring or Fall camp attended.
